FAQ

Short answers to common questions about platforms, agents, privacy, and what Palisade does not do yet.

Does Palisade run on Windows or Linux?

Not yet. Palisade runs on macOS 11 or later, on Apple Silicon and Intel. Follow the issue tracker for progress.

Which agents does it support?

Compatible agents from the ACP registry. Enable an available adapter with Add an agent, or install the adapter and required runtime yourself. Claude Code and Codex are two examples. No agent is compiled in. See Agents and sign-in.

Do I need a Palisade account or subscription?

No. Palisade uses your installed agents and your existing accounts with them. It does not bill you for provider usage.

What happens if I have no agent installed?

Palisade opens in chat-only mode and shows a checklist to fix it.

Can I run different agents at the same time?

Yes. You pick an agent per thread. Keep Isolated enabled for parallel Go tasks to use separate worktrees.

Does Palisade upload my code?

Not for its own features. Completion and suggestions run on a bundled local model. The agents and MCP servers you choose may talk to their own services. See Storage and privacy.

Can I merge without a passing verify?

Yes, but only on purpose. The override is explicit and visible. See Verify.

Does Palisade write specs?

No. The agent writes an OpenSpec change in spec mode. Palisade reads, validates, links, and archives it. See Spec and Go.

Can playbooks run on a schedule?

Not yet. Scheduling and event triggers are not built. See Playbooks.

Is there a Homebrew cask?

Not yet. Install from the latest DMG.

Does Palisade support screen readers?

Keyboard operation and visible focus are required throughout the app. A broader assistive-technology target is still an open decision.

Is it open source?

Yes. Palisade is licensed under Apache-2.0, and there is no CLA. Read CONTRIBUTING.md in the repository before you open a PR. Report security problems through SECURITY.md, never a public issue.

Why do some places say "Palisade Code"?

The product is called Palisade. The app window title, the README, and the repository name still say "Palisade Code" until they are renamed.
