Install

Download the universal macOS build, check the requirements, and connect your first ACP agent.

Palisade runs on macOS. One universal build covers Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Requirements

PlatformStatus
macOS 11 or later, Apple Silicon and IntelSupported. One universal .dmg.
Windows, LinuxNot yet. Follow the issue tracker for progress.

You need Git and an ACP coding agent with a provider account. For npm-based agents such as Claude Code and Codex, install Node.js first. Use Add an agent in Palisade’s agent picker to enable its ACP adapter; the package downloads on first use. See Agents and sign-in for how Palisade finds them.

Download

  1. Download the universal DMG.
  2. Open it and move Palisade to Applications.
  3. Open Palisade, add an agent, and follow its sign-in flow.

The app is signed and notarized. The first-install DMG includes the local completion model. On Intel Macs, local inference runs on the CPU.

Updates

Palisade updates itself. Each update is checked against the project's signing key before it is installed. See Updates and releases.

If no agent is installed

Palisade still opens. It starts in chat-only mode and tells you what is missing.

Build from source

You need macOS with Node.js, pnpm, a stable Rust toolchain, and Xcode Command Line Tools on PATH. Clone the repository and run these commands from its root:

pnpm install
pnpm start # tauri dev: compiles the Rust backend and opens the window
CommandPurpose
pnpm testAll frontend tests (vitest)
npx tsc --noEmitTypecheck
cd src-tauri && cargo testAll Rust tests
pnpm buildtsc && vite build

The completion sidecar (llama-server) and its model are build inputs and are gitignored. Without them the app runs with completion disabled. Nothing else depends on them.
